The goal of Green Plus is to provide your business with affordable access to tools and information to improve your bottom line while becoming more sustainable, and to help you receive recognition from your customers and your community for your efforts. ISD will formally launch Green Plus in early 2009. The Green Plus program will provide smaller enterprises savings and information through access to

·        Buyers and suppliers who want to do business with sustainable enterprises

·        Green Plus sustainable small business certification

Green Plus Certification

Certification should provide a path, not a barrier, to sustainability.” – Jerry Stifelman, Founder and Creative Director, The Change Brand Strategy & Design

The Green Plus Certification program will be formally launched in the Greater NC Research Triangle early in 2009. Businesses throughout the country who have participated in the Green Plus beta test will also have the opportunity to apply the early enrollment period. The Green Plus online certification tool will help small businesses and non-profits assess their practices in terms of

  • Strong business performance
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Community reinvestment
  • Sustainability awareness building

A beta version of the certification tool is now being tested by over 100 small businesses and non-profits. Beta testing is open, and those businesses taking the beta and providing their feedback will receive a $200 credit toward application for certification and will be first in line to join the Green Plus online community next year.
